Michael Gough
Director
Michael has been an active part of the business from a very young age with his Dad and Grandad. He drove for the company until 2005 when he came off the road to concentrate on running the traffic and administrative side of the business. He has been crucial in the expansion of the business over the past 20 years. He has worked closely with his brother Simon Gough during this time to grow the business whilst maintaining the highest possible standard of fleet on the road.
Michael is the Transport Manager for A E Gough & Sons Ltd and also manages a huge amount of business administration using his vast industry knowledge behind the scenes.
He loves the industry and plays an active role within the RHA, helping shape the industry for future years.
When the company went Limited in 2020 he became a director alongside his brother but in November 2021 Simon decided it was time to take a step back so Michael’s wife Barbra joined him as a director to push the business forward.
Barbra Gough
Director
Barbra married Michael in 1993 and became a member of the team in 2000 when she took on the part-time role of finance administrator. Barbra worked part time for the company alongside working for the local authority in various roles, the last one being Community Manager at Ysgol Trefonnen. Whilst working for both organisations she also completed a BA Hons in Business and Leadership which has helped in both roles. In 2020 she took the decision to cover Angharad’s maternity leave and take on the challenge of working for the company full-time. She was heavily involved in the business changing status in 2020 becoming a Limited Company, she took on project managing the building of the new offices. This was a time consuming project but has enabled the administrative side of the business to grow in order to support the operation of the vehicles.
In the November of 2021 Barbra became a Director of the business alongside her husband Michael when Simon decided to retire. They are hoping to grow the company over the coming years and are looking forward to the exciting times ahead.

He passed his HGV test at the age of 19 and went straight out on the road, meeting customers and gaining valuable knowledge of how the job works. Now working in the office and workshop, he spends most of his time traffic planning and completing essential maintenance to ensure the fleet is kept in the best possible condition. He loves all the truck shows so makes great effort to go to as many as possible. His nickname is Squeaky as he can get very enthusiastic and high pitched 😊, he brings another dimension to the traffic office.
Simon Gough
Simon joined the business when he left school at 16 working as a mechanic. There were fewer lorries on the road at this time so at 21 he went on the road full time. He loved the driving but in 2006 he came off the road and joined Michael in the Office. He became crucial in the transport department due to his vast geographical knowledge. Simon works hard to get the lorries looking as good as they do and keeping on top of the maintenance. He takes great pride in the appearance of the fleet. Both Simon and Michael made great partners as they both excel in different areas. Following the move to the new office he has worked closely with Rhys and Daniel to pass on his knowledge of the traffic planning. In November 2021 Simon decided to step back from his directorship and cut down his hours. Simon is still working part-time Simons dedication and hard work over the years has been fantastic and he definitely deserves time to relax and take life a little more easy.
